I retired from Thames Valley Police in 2019 as a Detective Superintendent: A senior police leader with extensive operational and strategic policing experience including the management and leadership of large teams, investigation of homicide and serious crime, management of threat, risk and harm and critical incidents, hostage negotiation, change management, delivering performance and community engagement across large and complex areas of business and diverse communities. I worked with strategic partners and stakeholders within the public, private, charitable and voluntary sectors.
During my service I achieved Chartered Management Institute CMI) Level 7 qualifications in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring and Strategic Management and Leadership. I became a Chartered Manager in 2018.
I am passionate about personal development and inclusivity and having experienced senior leadership from the perspective of a minority group, I am very interested in equality, diversity and inclusivity and female representation at the executive level of organisations.
I used a coaching approach during my policing career, coaching and mentoring many staff and officers at all levels. I now specialise in leadership coaching, mentoring and facilitation across organisations.
My coaching approach is of self-reflection, establishing goals and focussing attention on what an individual already knows and does well.
My style is open, honest, pragmatic and non-directive, assuming that the individual’s own knowledge and experience is the key to their future development.
I use personal development tools to increase knowledge of self and to focus not only on what improvements can be made but on what existing strengths can be sucessfully enhanced and leveraged.
I help people to focus on building relationships with peers and teams, securing sponsorship and advocacy for their own potential and on developing supportive leadership styles and qualities.
